GEMAFIA

Reverse Gematria (Reverse Ordinal)

Reverse gematria assigns Z=1, Y=2, … A=26. It is the mirror of English Ordinal. Decoders run both so a “hit” is not an artifact of reading the alphabet in only one direction.

Calculate Reverse Ordinal A–Z table

The mapping

ABCDEFGHIJKLM
26252423222120191817161514
NOPQRSTUVWXYZ
13121110987654321

Shortcut vs Ordinal: Reverse value of a letter = 27 − Ordinal value. HELLO Reverse = 19+22+15+15+12 = 83.

Reverse Reduction

Apply the 1–9 reduction cycle to the reversed alphabet. GEMAFIA includes Reverse Reduction as its own cipher so you can compare root digits without doing the reduction by hand.

When reverse is useful

Ordinal and Reverse are not independent random numbers — they are mirrors. Still, database matches often show up in one and not the other. Running both is the cheapest way to see whether a pattern is alphabet-direction-specific. Pair them with Reduction and English ×6 on the gematria calculator before you write anything down as a “decode.”
