Jewish Gematria (English / Agrippa)
Search results for “Jewish gematria calculator” mix three different things: classical Hebrew letter-numbers, Renaissance Agrippa-style Latin tables, and modern English decoder charts. They do not produce the same totals. This page documents what GEMAFIA actually computes.
1. Classical Hebrew gematria
In Hebrew, letters are numbers. In the standard system (mispar hechrachi), א=1 … ט=9, י=10 … צ=90, ק=100 … ת=400, with final-letter variants in mispar gadol. That practice is old, text-based, and tied to the Hebrew alphabet — not to A–Z. Calculating “chai” typed in English is not the same as calculating חי.
2. English “Jewish” calculators
English tools needed a Latin-alphabet stand-in. Different authors borrowed Hebrew place-value ideas and assigned them to A–Z in different ways. Two common modern tables:
- Millesimal / “Gematrix Jewish” (seen on several popular calculators): A–I = 1–9, then K=10 … T=100, with J, V, W given 600 / 700 / 900-style finals. GEMAFIA does not use this as its Jewish/Agrippa row.
- GEMAFIA Jewish / Agrippa — the mapping below, used in the live calculator so every user of this site gets the same number.

This mapping is Hebrew-inspired, not a scholarly edition of a biblical verse. Use it as a consistent English cipher among the 61+ systems on GEMAFIA.
How to calculate
Same method as any gematria: look up each letter, add. Because F, P, Q, R, and S jump into tens and hundreds, Jewish/Agrippa totals are usually much larger than Ordinal for the same English word. That is expected.
Run Ordinal and English ×6 beside it. A phrase that only “hits” in one Jewish table on one website is a weak claim. A phrase that also collides in Ordinal or Reduction on a documented database row is more interesting — still not proof of anything beyond arithmetic.
